80 Myanmar nationals held in Manipur’s Churachandpur

Guwahati: As many as 80 Myanmar nationals were apprehended in the course of multiple operations in Churachanpur district of Manipur.

The police arrested the Myanmar nationals after conducting raids at different places in the Vaal Veng area of the district.

40 citizens of Myanmar were taken into custody during one of the searches from two rented homes.

The other 40 citizens of Myanmar were captured during a raid at another site.

Among the detainees are 25 males, 35 females and 20 children.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at the Churachandpur police station.

All those detained were ultimately charged with violating the relevant provisions of the Foreigners’ Act.
