90% of the people arrested in Drug Cases across Assam are Muslims: Congress MLA Siddique Ahmed

Guwahati: Siddique Ahmed, a Congress lawmaker from Assam’s Karimganj South, stated on Saturday that about 90% of the drug traffickers detained in Assam are Muslims.

He continued, nevertheless, that the minority community disapproved of him for bringing this up.

Speaking on the drug problem in the state, Ahmed stated, “Nearly 90% of the drug traffickers detained in Assam are Muslim. People of colour despise me for stating this.”

The cousin of former South Karimganj MLA and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leader Aziz Ahmed Khan was then charged with drug smuggling by the Congress MLA.

He said, “Aftaruddin who was found to have drugs on him is a distant relative of mine. My own son is getting harder to control these days.”

In addition, the Congress MLA protested the Karimganj eviction drive by speaking out.

“The administration removed Muslims even after they had pattas on the grounds of their faith,” he blamed the administration.
