90 organisations hold massive rally against APPSC paper leakage scam in Arunachal
Guwahati: One of Arunachal’s largest rallies ever is being held by as many as 90 organisations, parents, and students to protest the APPSC (Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission) paper leak scam.
Notably, the rally was organised by the All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) and the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) to protest the ongoing Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) examination paper leakage scam. The rally was organised from the Dera Natung Government College to IG Park.
Earlier, Speaking to reporters, ANSU Vice President Rahim Yangfo said that the unions believe that the corrupt practices within the Commission are not new and the recent arrests of candidates and officials by the Special Investigation Cell have confirmed it.
In their set of demands, the state administration must cancel all tests in which the question paper was leaked.
The ANSU has also demanded the immediate arrest of the chairman, secretary, members, and all Commission officials; an ED and Court-monitored investigation; the immediate dismissal and termination of all implicated state government officials; the Commission’s refusal to announce an examination date until the investigation process is complete; and the development of a new SOP for the examination with the involvement of at least two candidates.
In addition, they have urged the state government to hire Mudang Yabyang, a candidate with disabilities, for the position of lecturer at Polytechnic College and to promote Gyamar Padang to assistant engineer (civil) in recognition of his role in exposing the APPSC exam paper leak.
Other requests include the publication of the findings of the three-member IAS committee on the leakage of the AE (Civil) exam, the recall of three state officials working under the APPSC, and compensation for all the wronged candidates in the sum of Rs. 5 lakhs per person.
In a letter written to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, All Nyishi Students Union this is not the first time scam like APPSC has happened in Arunachal Pradesh but such corrupt practices and anomalies is being reported every now and then in the APPSC. They claimed that the official responsible for the notorious 2014 paper leak scheme had escaped punishment.
“Again, in the year 2017, the state had gone through scandalous episodes when the aspirants on protest against the malpractices in the APPSC were beaten up badly, stripped off, manhandled and tortured by the paramilitary forces instead of redressing the grievances. Ultimately, the helpless aspirants were made to loss the legal battle on the basis of misleading and manufactured SOP of the APPSC.”, the letter stated.
“Merit of the case was undermined by your so called Zero Tolerance Government. And the saddest part is that neither your government nor the authorities of the APPSC tried to redress the issues properly, left the official free hand by making mere excuses. Because of which rampant and open selling of Question Paper was reported this year.”, the letter said.
Without a doubt, the BJP government tried to take action against the official involved in the scam, but it fell short of expectations. As a result, the Union is issuing this letter to demand swift action against the offenders.
One suspect in the APPSC document leak fraud was arrested by the Arunachal Pradesh Police’s Special Investigation Cell on December 2. In relation to the case, 25 people have been arrested so far.
