Assam: Sivasagar Counts Amidst Tight Security Following Strong Voter Participation

Guwahati: Vote counting has commenced across Sivasagar district, focusing on three pivotal locations: Sivasagar, Demow, and Nazira. Each location houses specially secured strong rooms, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process under heightened security protocols. The district’s political climate remains charged as the results are tallied.

The region demonstrated a substantial voter turnout, with 3,65,485 residents casting their ballots, representing 72.56% of the total 5,30,683 registered voters. Specifically, the Sivasagar assembly constituency saw 1,29,228 individuals participate in the electoral process, out of its 1,76,617 registered voters.

The election encompassed a broad spectrum of local governance, including 12 Zila Parishad seats, 82 Gaon Panchayats, 5 Anchalik Panchayats, and 820 ward positions, spread across the three assembly constituencies of Sivasagar, Demow, and Nazira.

Within the Sivasagar assembly segment, the counting is progressing across 49 tables, meticulously processing the results for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 1 Anchalik Panchayat, and 270 ward positions. The constituency had established 287 polling stations to facilitate the voting process.

In the Demow assembly constituency, results are being compiled from 291 polling stations, covering 4 Zila Parishad seats, 2 Anchalik Panchayats, and 280 ward members. The counting operation is currently underway.

Simultaneously, Nazira is also engaged in counting votes from 280 polling booths, where elections were held for 4 Zila Parishad seats, 2 Anchalik Panchayats, and 270 ward positions. Designated tables are in operation to complete the counting process.
