Assam: Kamrup Panchayat Poll Vote Count Underway Amidst Tight Security
Guwahati: The much-anticipated counting of votes for the Assam’s Kamrup district Panchayat elections began promptly at 8 am on May 11, at the counting center situated near the Office of the Integrated Deputy Commissioner. Security measures were stringent, with administrative oversight ensuring a transparent and impartial process.
A significant 79.40% of the district’s 11,68,488 registered voters exercised their franchise, as revealed by official figures. This robust participation underscores the democratic fervor in Kamrup.
The Panchayat setup in Kamrup features 20 Zila Parishad seats, 114 Anchalik Panchayat seats, and 1,140 Gaon Panchayat member positions, reflecting the grassroots administrative framework.
Notably, 258 candidates had already been declared victorious without contest. This includes six Zila Parishad members, 40 Anchalik Panchayat representatives, and 212 Gaon Panchayat members, securing their positions unopposed.
