KSO Delhi President Booked for Alleged Threats Ahead of Manipur Festival

Imphal: Churachandpur police in Manipur have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Paojakhup Guite, the President of the Kuki Students’ Organisation (KSO) Delhi.

This action follows the emergence of a video on social media platforms in which Guite is purportedly seen issuing threats to the Meitei community, cautioning them against crossing the established buffer zone to participate in the forthcoming Shirui Festival, scheduled to be held in Ukhrul district.

In the wake of the FIR being lodged, law enforcement agencies have initiated a comprehensive operation to apprehend Guite. This includes conducting raids in various adjacent districts in an effort to secure his immediate arrest and prevent any potential escalation of tensions.

Recognizing the urgency and the potential for the accused to evade capture, the Manipur Police have formally requested assistance from the police forces of neighbouring states, namely Mizoram, Assam, Nagaland, and Meghalaya. This collaborative effort aims to broaden the search perimeter and expedite the process of bringing Guite into custody.

Meanwhile, government authorities have moved swiftly to reassure the public, particularly those intending to attend the Shirui Festival. They have unequivocally stated that all essential security measures will be implemented to guarantee the safety and well-being of every individual present at the cultural event. This commitment underscores the administration’s determination to ensure the festival proceeds peacefully and without incident, despite the recent developments.
