Assam to Get Ratan Tata Electronics Manufacturing City, Boosting State’s Industrial Dreams

Guwahati, Assam: In a move poised to significantly uplift Assam’s industrial landscape, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday announced the establishment of a dedicated electronics manufacturing city in Jagiroad. This ambitious project, to be christened the Ratan Tata Electronics Manufacturing City, will take shape near the existing Tata Industries facility, marking a new chapter in the state’s economic narrative.

Highlighting Assam’s burgeoning appeal as an industrial destination, CM Sarma stressed that any enterprise venturing into electronic component manufacturing in the state would be entitled to a multi-layered incentive framework. This includes benefits flowing from the Central Government’s Electronic Component Manufacturing Policy, the specific policies of the Assam Government, and the North East Region-focused policy spearheaded by the Government of India, creating a truly attractive package for investors.

“This is a strategic step towards integrating Assam into the national and global electronics supply chain,” CM Sarma remarked, articulating the vision behind this significant undertaking. He further reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to fostering a conducive environment aimed at drawing high-end electronic manufacturing industries to the verdant region.

The proposed manufacturing city is anticipated to be a catalyst for substantial job creation, propel regional development, and firmly establish Assam as a crucial stakeholder in India’s broader electronics production roadmap, signalling a bright future for the state’s industrial ambitions.
