Gaurav Gogoi’s APCC Appointment Ignites Jubilation, Confidence in Baksa Congress

Guwahati: A palpable wave of jubilation and renewed vigour has swept through the Congress ranks in Baksa district following the highly anticipated appointment of Gaurav Gogoi as the new President of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC). The decision by the Congress high command has been met with widespread optimism, with local leaders expressing strong confidence in Gogoi’s ability to steer the party towards significant electoral gains.

Buddhadev Phadangari, the President of the Baksa District Congress Committee (DCC), wasted no time in commending the leadership’s choice, articulating a profound sense of renewed energy within the party. “With Gaurav Gogoi at the helm, we are filled with double the enthusiasm to move forward. His dynamic approach will inspire us to work harder for the people of Assam,” Phadangari asserted, highlighting the immediate boost in morale among party workers.

Phadangari went on to project a transformative impact of Gogoi’s leadership on the party’s fortunes, particularly in the upcoming electoral battles. He confidently stated that Gogoi’s elevation would prove to be a “game-changer” for the Congress in the 2025 Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections and, crucially, the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly polls, signalling a clear intent for a strong comeback.

In a sharp and unreserved critique of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Phadangari alleged that Gogoi’s growing influence has noticeably unsettled the saffron brigade. “The BJP is clearly afraid of Gaurav Gogoi’s rising popularity. They are resorting to spreading lies and false propaganda,” he remarked, suggesting a sense of panic within the rival camp.

Phadangari specifically singled out Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, expressing strong disapproval of his recent “blue-blooded” remark directed at Gogoi. “The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect his insecurity. BJP has no right to interfere in the internal affairs of the Congress Party,” Phadangari declared, dismissing the Chief Minister’s comments as an attempt to divert attention and sow discord.

Concluding his address, Phadangari painted a grim picture of the current political landscape under the BJP, asserting that the public has grown weary of what he termed “exploitation and loot.” He expressed firm belief in the electorate’s discerning nature, stating, “The public has seen through the BJP’s misgovernance. We are confident that in 2026, Congress will return to power in Assam under the leadership of Gaurav Gogoi.”
