Assam: Lachit Sena Marches on Jorhat, Demanding Azad Choudhury’s Arrest
Guwahati: A significant contingent of Lachit Sena members, wielding traditional Hengdang swords, has commenced a formidable march towards Jorhat, signalling the start of a heightened period of agitation.
The organisation has vowed to continue their movement until the “last threshold of democratic resistance” is reached.
At the core of their demands is the immediate arrest and detention of Azad Choudhury, who they allege has acted against the interests of the state. The group has issued a public appeal, urging citizens from all corners of Assam to gather in Jorhat in large numbers to bolster the movement’s momentum.
In tandem with their primary demand, the Lachit Sena has called for a widespread mobilisation against individuals they identify as Bangladeshi nationals and suspected illegal immigrants.
