Manipur: Two Arrested with Heroin in Imphal
Imphal: In a significant breakthrough against the ongoing drug menace, Manipur Police on Thursday apprehended two individuals and seized over 130 grams of suspected heroin. The arrests were made at the Winger parking area in North AOC, falling under the jurisdiction of Imphal Police Station.
The arrested persons have been identified as Aziz Khan, 22, hailing from Lilong Chingkham Makha Dam Makha, Thoubal District, and Kh. Sagir Khan, 24, from Thoubal Kiyam Leitanpok, also in Thoubal District.
Police reports indicate that during a meticulously planned operation on May 29, authorities recovered 36 grams and 98 grams of suspected heroin from the possession of the duo, meticulously packed in separate envelopes. The total weight of the seized contraband stands at 134 grams.
In addition to the illicit drugs, police also confiscated four bags, two mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, and ATM cards from the suspects, indicating a broader network potentially involved in their activities.
The arrests, executed in Imphal West District, underscore the relentless efforts of the Manipur Police to clamp down on drug trafficking across the region. Both Aziz Khan and Kh. Sagir Khan are currently in police custody, with further investigations underway to unearth the full extent of their operations and associated links.
