Army Lance Naik’s Demise in Sikkim Landslide Plunges Himachal Village into Grief
Badaban, Himachal Pradesh: A pall of profound sadness has descended upon Badaban village, 17 kilometres from Nahan town, as news of Lance Naik Manish Thakur’s death in a devastating landslide in Sikkim reached his home. Hundreds of villagers, their eyes reflecting shared sorrow, have gathered at his residence to offer condolences to the grieving family, now anxiously awaiting the arrival of his mortal remains.
Lance Naik Thakur was one of three brave soldiers from the Indian Army’s 3rd Dogra Regiment who tragically lost their lives when a massive landslide struck their military camp in Chhaten, Sikkim, on Sunday night. The Deputy Director of the Sainik Welfare Board, Sirmaur, Major Deepak Dhawan, informed that Lance Naik Thakur’s mortal remains are anticipated to reach his ancestral village either this evening or by Tuesday morning. He assured that the valiant soldier would be accorded a full military honours cremation.
Meanwhile, political leaders from Himachal Pradesh have extended their heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. Nahan MLA Ajay Solanki, Paonta MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, and Himachal Pradesh BJP president Rajiv Bindal have expressed their condolences and pledged all necessary support to the family during this immensely difficult time. The landslide, triggered by incessant heavy rainfall in the region, also resulted in six Army personnel going missing and four others sustaining injuries, according to defence officials.
