Arunachal: 1st IRBN Namsangmukh Hosts Historic Wellness and Green Drive Under Power Grid CSR Initiative

NAMSANGMUKH, Arunachal Pradesh — A transformative chapter was written at the 1st India Reserve Battalion (IRBN) Headquarters on June 2, as the campus came alive with a first-of-its-kind multi-faceted event promoting physical well-being, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment.

In a landmark initiative supported under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., the day saw the inauguration of Arunachal Pradesh’s first Outdoor Open Gym at any police establishment, a large-scale plantation drive, and the ceremonial distribution of bicycles to the children of IRBN personnel.

The event was graced by Wangki Lowang, Minister for Forests, Environment, Geology & Mining, and DoTCL, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, who attended as the chief guest. Apur Bitin, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Operations), was present as guest of honour, while Pradip Kumar, Chief General Manager of Power Grid, participated as special guest. Senior officials from the Police Headquarters and Power Grid joined the occasion, marking a rare confluence of civil service, law enforcement, and public enterprise leadership.

The open gym, symbolizing a commitment to the health and fitness of security personnel and their families, stands as a pioneering effort to introduce wellness infrastructure into police environments. Alongside, the plantation drive served as a tangible expression of environmental stewardship, led by dignitaries and warmly supported by officers and their families, who together planted numerous saplings across the campus.

Adding a personal touch to the proceedings, 40 bicycles were gifted to the children of IRBN personnel — a gesture that brought joy to young faces and emphasized Power Grid’s inclusive approach to community welfare.

To recognize outstanding contributions, letters of appreciation were awarded to personnel whose dedication ensured the success of the event. Speakers lauded the dynamic leadership of Dr. Sachin Kumar Singhal, IPS, Commandant of 1st IRBN, whose vision and execution within a short period of his posting breathed new life into the campus.

In their remarks, the dignitaries praised the collaboration between Power Grid and the police department, calling it a model for future partnerships aimed at holistic development. The event concluded with words of gratitude from Dr. Singhal, who reiterated the importance of welfare-centric, environment-conscious initiatives in building a resilient and motivated force.

The day left a lasting impression of unity, forward momentum, and shared purpose—setting a new benchmark in police-community engagement in Arunachal Pradesh.
