Assam: Four Juveniles Apprehended in Connection with Rape Case in Tinsukia

Guwahati: The Margherita police in Tinsukia district have arrested four juveniles in connection with a rape case involving a minor girl. The incident occurred in the 1 Number Alubari locality under the jurisdiction of Margherita police station.

According to reports, the four teenagers, all residents of 1 Number Alubari, allegedly raped the minor girl over several days before the victim’s family lodged a first information report (FIR) at the Margherita police station. Officer-in-charge Protap Gogoi led the operation to apprehend the accused, demonstrating prompt action by the local law enforcement.

The police have registered the case under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, highlighting the seriousness of the charges faced by the accused teenagers. All four accused were presented before the Margherita sub-divisional magistrate court, and legal proceedings are underway.

The victim’s family has strongly demanded stringent punishment for the accused, reflecting the gravity of the situation and their call for justice. This incident underscores ongoing concerns about juvenile crime and the safety of minors in the region.
