Sikkim CM Extends Saga Dawa Greetings, Calls for Unity and Peace

Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang today extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the state, especially the Buddhist community, on the auspicious occasion of Saga Dawa. The Chief Minister highlighted the immense spiritual importance of the festival, which commemorates the enlightenment and Mahaparinirvana of Lord Buddha.

In his message, Tamang underscored the enduring relevance of Lord Buddha’s teachings. He stated, “Saga Dawa serves as a powerful reminder of Lord Buddha’s timeless teachings of non-violence, compassion, brotherhood, and harmony that continue to inspire humanity.” The Chief Minister emphasised that these values are critically important in the contemporary world and urged everyone to embody peace and empathy in their daily lives.

Reflecting on the profound wisdom associated with the day, the Chief Minister further added, “May the radiance of his wisdom dispel the shadows of hatred and intolerance, ushering in an era of peace, contentment, and spiritual awakening.” He also called upon the people of Sikkim to transcend all societal divisions based on caste, creed, gender, and religion. Tamang encouraged citizens to renew their dedication to the principles of truth, Dharma, and righteousness, thereby strengthening the spirit of unity in diversity within the state.
