Arunachal: Papum Pare Administration Proactively Prepares for Monsoon-Linked Diarrhoeal Diseases

Itanagar: The newly appointed Deputy Commissioner of Papum Pare, Vishakha Yadav, IAS, has taken a proactive step ahead of the monsoon season by chairing the District-Level Steering Committee meeting for the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025. The meeting, held at the DC’s Conference Hall in Yupia, brought together key stakeholders from various departments, including Health, PHED, Education, and Women & Child Development.

Yadav emphasized the importance of preventive measures and urged departments to work together to improve the district’s health parameters. “We must function as a unified team to enhance the district’s health outcomes,” she said, assuring full administrative support to address infrastructure gaps and operational challenges in healthcare delivery.

District Medical Officer Dr. Reena Ronya apprised the committee of ongoing health programmes, including Immunisation, NCD Management, TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and the National Tobacco Control Programme. Dr. Taniya Raju, District ASHA Nodal Officer, presented the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign’s objectives, which include achieving zero child deaths due to diarrhoea, promoting awareness about ORS and Zinc usage, enhancing handwashing and sanitation practices, and ensuring universal access to safe drinking water.

With the monsoon season approaching, the Papum Pare administration is working to strengthen public health readiness. The Stop Diarrhoea Campaign aims to reduce child mortality and improve overall public health by adopting a holistic approach that includes:

– Strengthening Health Infrastructure: Ensuring availability of essential medical supplies and proper maintenance of health facilities.

– Improving Access to Clean Water and Sanitation: Implementing quality control measures and sustainable practices.

– Enhancing Nutritional Programs: Addressing malnutrition through improved nutritional initiatives.

– Promoting Hygiene Education: Fostering healthy habits among children through comprehensive hygiene education programs.
