Maharashtra: Woman Arrested for Allegedly Hacking Husband to Death in Sangli

National: A 27-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly hacking her 53-year-old husband to death in Sangli, Maharashtra.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at around 12:30 am, when the woman, identified as Radhika, attacked her husband, Anil Lokhande, with an axe while he was asleep in bed.

The couple had married just 15 days prior to the incident, and Lokhande’s insistence on consummating the marriage reportedly led to a heated exchange between them. According to police, Radhika was irked by her husband’s demands, which ultimately led to the fatal attack.

The police have arrested Radhika under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, and further investigation is underway. This incident comes on the heels of another high-profile murder case in Indore, where a transport businessman was allegedly murdered during his honeymoon trip to Meghalaya at the behest of his wife.

In the Indore case, police suspect that the wife, Sonam, hatched a conspiracy to murder her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, in collaboration with her alleged lover. Sonam and four others have been arrested in connection with the case. Both incidents have sent shockwaves across the country, highlighting the darker aspects of marital relationships.
