Arunachal: Capital’s Veins Flow with Generosity on World Blood Donor Day

Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh – The spirit of altruism coursed through the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly premises today, as a mega blood donation drive marked World Blood Donor Day.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded the act of donating blood as a “meritorious and compassionate service to humanity,” setting the tone for an event that saw overwhelming participation from various sections of society.

The collaborative effort, jointly organised by the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Sewa Bharati, and Arunachal Life Saving Foundation, aimed to bolster blood reserves and raise awareness under this year’s global theme, “20 years of celebrating giving: Thank you, blood donors.”

Leading the charge by example were brave paramilitary personnel, who joined legislators, government officials, medical professionals, students, and dedicated volunteers in contributing to the noble cause. Deputy CM Mein, addressing the enthusiastic gathering, drew a parallel to Buddhist philosophy, stating, “In Buddhism, the act of giving blood is regarded as a noble and selfless deed.” He expressed profound gratitude for the impressive turnout, particularly highlighting the contributions of medical professionals like Dr. Ramesh Jeke, the political fraternity, and the valiant paramilitary forces, all embodying the core tenets of compassion and altruism.

The significant event also witnessed the presence of Speaker Tesam Pongte and Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, alongside a diverse cross-section of public representatives and Assembly staff. Speaker Pongte, in his address, passionately appealed to all eligible individuals to come forward and embrace this life-saving mission. He underscored the profound impact of each donation, emphasizing, “Each unit of blood can save multiple lives, and your donation reinforces the values of empathy and humanitarianism.” Looking ahead, Speaker Pongte announced that the upcoming two-month celebration marking the Golden Jubilee of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly would integrate numerous community-centric activities. He assured that “Just like today’s blood donation drive, several such socially beneficial initiatives will be held to commemorate this historic milestone,” further cementing the Assembly’s commitment to public welfare.
