Tripura Kicks Off Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan for Tribal Upliftment

Agartala: The Tripura government has today, June 15, 2025, launched the “Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan,” a 15-day nationwide campaign dedicated to accelerating tribal welfare and development. This ambitious initiative, set to run until June 30, 2025, is a pivotal component of the ongoing Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, which honours the profound legacy of revered tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda, affectionately known as Dharti Aaba.

The core objective of this drive is to guarantee that every eligible tribal citizen receives their crucial entitlements by November 15, 2025. This will be achieved through a meticulously planned, convergence-driven, and mission-mode implementation strategy. The government is steadfast in its aim to achieve complete, 100% saturation in a range of key schemes, including Aadhaar enrolment, Ayushman Bharat Health Coverage, PM-KISAN Income Support, Jan Dhan Yojana Bank Accounts, and various scholarship programmes for students.

Emphasising the critical role of grassroots participation, the campaign is designed to strengthen last-mile delivery mechanisms, ensuring that no eligible beneficiary is inadvertently overlooked. To this end, officials from central, state, and district administrations will collaborate closely, coordinating efforts to amplify awareness and facilitate seamless implementation on the ground. The campaign period will see a flurry of special outreach drives, dedicated camps, and comprehensive door-to-door verification initiatives.

District Magistrate Vishal Kumar officially announced the district-level rollout, stating, “Today, on behalf of the District Administration, we have launched the ‘Dharti Aabha Janbhagidari Abhiyan Yojana’. This scheme is designed to achieve 100% saturation of both central and state-sponsored schemes in tribal areas.” In its initial phase, 20 to 22 essential services spanning seven critical sectors will be delivered directly through specially organised camps.

Beyond the immediate provision of services, the campaign also holds a firm commitment to vital infrastructure development, with targeted improvements in roads, electricity, water supply, Anganwadi centres, and child development facilities. According to Kumar, “This scheme is not limited to service delivery — it also includes infrastructure development, which will be targeted for completion by October 2, 2025.”

A significant feature of the programme is its inherent financial flexibility, with provisions for additional funding readily available in instances where routine schemes might fall short. “Additional funding provisions will be made under this scheme. In areas where routine schemes fall short of funds, financial support will be extended from this initiative. This means that extra funding will be available specifically for tribal areas,” Kumar elaborated.

The strategic target date of November 15, 2025, which coincides with the auspicious birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, powerfully underlines the government’s unwavering commitment to tribal empowerment. Officials are anticipating substantial improvements across tribal areas, with rapid infrastructure development expected to take shape over the next three months. This initiative not only seeks to deliver immediate benefits through robust service provision but also aims to lay a robust foundation for sustained development by significantly enhancing the crucial infrastructure in tribal regions across the country.
