Assam: Sribhumi Civil Hospital Averts Disaster as Quick Action Controls AC Unit Fire
Guwahati: A potential catastrophe was narrowly avoided at Sribhumi Civil Hospital on Sunday, June 15, when an air-conditioning unit in the Eye Department building suddenly burst into flames. The incident, which occurred yesterday, sent a wave of panic through the hospital premises, but swift action by staff and local residents ensured the blaze was contained before it could escalate.
The fire originated from an AC unit, quickly catching fire and causing concern among those present. However, the quick-thinking hospital personnel, aided by nearby residents, sprang into action, managing to bring the initial flames under control. Their prompt response proved crucial in preventing the fire from spreading to other parts of the hospital and causing extensive damage.
Soon after, the fire brigade arrived at the scene, completing the task of fully extinguishing the fire with powerful water jets. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and all patients in the adjacent wards were safely secured during the incident.
While a detailed investigation is underway, preliminary assessments point towards a short circuit in the AC machine as the likely cause of the fire. Authorities have launched a thorough inspection to determine the full extent of the damage and implement measures to prevent any such occurrences in the future.
