Assam: Local Residents Rescue Injured Deer from Kolong Riverbank

Kaliabor, Assam – A heartwarming act of compassion unfolded on Sunday near Jayantipur Moria village in Kaliabor, as alert local residents came to the aid of an injured deer. The animal, discovered in a distressed state on the banks of the Kolong River, was suffering from a severe, maggot-infested wound on one of its legs.

The deer was spotted by villagers who noticed its weakened condition near the riverbank. Concerned for its well-being, they quickly rallied to ensure the animal’s safety while simultaneously alerting the Silghat Forest Department.

Forest personnel from the Silghat range wasted no time in responding to the call. Upon arrival, they carefully took custody of the injured deer and swiftly transported it to a nearby veterinary facility for urgent medical attention.

Officials from the Forest Department have confirmed that the deer is currently receiving treatment and is anticipated to make a full recovery under their care.

This incident underscores the increasing commitment of local communities towards wildlife conservation. The residents of Jayantipur Moria village have voiced their hopes for the deer’s complete recovery and its eventual return to its natural habitat.
