Gangtok: The Power Department’s Tadong Division has issued an official notification regarding a series of scheduled nighttime power outages from June 18 to June 25 across Gangtok and surrounding areas, including Tadong, Deorali, Gangtok-2, 5th Mile, 6th Mile, Ray Khola, Lingding, Bye-Pass, Perbing, and Phodong.
The outages are being carried out to facilitate system improvement work at the 66KV Control Room in 5th Mile, Tadong, aimed at enhancing supply reliability to thousands of consumers connected to the substation. The plan has received formal approval from competent authorities.
The maintenance window spans multiple nights, with brief one-hour outages expected on the nights of:
• June 18–19
• June 20–21
• June 22–23
• June 24–25
However, a longer shutdown of 5.5 hours is scheduled specifically for Perbing and Phodong from the night of June 24 into the early hours of June 25.
Work will be carried out between 11:00 PM and 4:30 AM on the mentioned dates. The Power Department has assured minimal inconvenience, urging residents—particularly those with medical, commercial, or security needs—to plan accordingly.
Residents are advised to stay informed and make necessary preparations during this period.
