Arunachal: Vivek Pandey Reviews Chongkham Septage Plant Progress

Chongkham, June 20: Vivek Pandey, the Commissioner of Urban Affairs and Divisional Commissioner of East Arunachal, today undertook a comprehensive inspection of the Septage Management with Treatment Plant located in Chongkham. He was joined by the Deputy Commissioners of Namsai and Lohit, alongside a contingent of officials from the executing department, to assess the facility’s operations and progress.

The plant, a significant infrastructural undertaking, is designed to serve a cluster of key towns in the region, including Namsai, Chongkham, Tezu, and Roing. Its funding was allocated under the 2021–22 Budget Announcement, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing sanitation facilities across East Arunachal. The project’s execution falls under the purview of the Department of Urban Affairs, Namsai Division, with M/s ACE Alliance acting as the implementing firm responsible for bringing the vital infrastructure to fruition.

Septage management is a cornerstone of effective urban sanitation, encompassing the crucial stages of safe collection, secure transportation, thorough treatment, and responsible disposal or beneficial reuse of waste generated from on-site sanitation systems like septic tanks. This particular initiative holds immense importance for regions that do not possess a centralised sewer infrastructure, as it directly contributes to safeguarding public health and preserving the ecological balance of the environment.
