Assam: Majuli Shaken as Class 10 Science Paper Leaks, Six Educators Detained
Guwahati: In a concerning turn of events for Majuli’s academic landscape, the Class 10 science test paper, slated for June 25, has reportedly been leaked, prompting immediate and stringent action from authorities. The breach has led to the detention of six individuals, including prominent headmasters and senior teachers from various institutions across the river island, as investigations zero in on the source of the compromise.
Sources have confirmed that the leaked paper was intended for a Class 10 school-level examination. Initial inquiries point towards the leak originating from within schools operating under the Majuli education block. The discovery triggered a flurry of activity, with several headmasters being summoned to the district education office for intensive questioning. Following these preliminary interrogations, six educators have been taken into custody on suspicion of their direct involvement in the security breach.
Among those currently in police custody are Pradip Lakra, Principal of Saint Paul High School (Private), and Kornesh Tigga, Vice Principal of the same institution. Also detained are Basa Kumar Pegu, Headmaster of Kangkan High School (Venture), and Mohananda Pegu, Headmaster of Kumarbari High School (Venture). Further detentions include Prabhat Sarmah, an Assistant Teacher at Jengraimukh Higher Secondary School, and Prabhat Borah, the Principal (in-charge) of the same school. The list of schools under scrutiny for potential involvement in this unfortunate incident includes Jengraimukh Higher Secondary School, Kumarbari High School, Kangkan High School, and Saint Paul High School. The swift response underscores the gravity with which the district administration views the integrity of its examination system.
