Doloo Airport Public Hearing Concludes Peacefully, Paving Way for Barak Valley Development
Guwahati: In a significant stride for Assam’s infrastructure ambitions, the much-anticipated public hearing for the proposed Greenfield Doloo Airport in Cachar district concluded successfully and without any untoward incidents on Monday. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma heralded the peaceful conclusion as a crucial “milestone,” bringing the state nearer to transforming the Barak Valley into a pivotal nexus of connectivity and progress.
The Chief Minister took to social media to express his “gratitude to all stakeholders for their cooperation and support,” extending thanks to the residents, local authorities, and all participants for their constructive engagement.
The Doloo Greenfield Airport project is envisioned as a catalyst for regional air connectivity, aligning with the Centre’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme. It aims to significantly enhance socio-economic opportunities for the populace of the Barak Valley, encompassing districts such as Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi.
With the successful culmination of this public hearing – a mandatory stage within the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process – the project is now poised to advance towards securing its final environmental clearance and subsequent implementation. The state government firmly believes this project will serve as a cornerstone in its broader strategy to ensure equitable and balanced development across both the Brahmaputra and Barak valleys.
