Assam Set to Transform into Global Concert Hub with BookMyShow Partnership
Guwahati: In a landmark move poised to revolutionise Assam’s cultural and tourism landscape, the state government on Tuesday officially sealed a strategic partnership with Bigtree Entertainment, the force behind the popular online ticketing platform, BookMyShow. The collaboration, formalised through an agreement between the Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) and the private entertainment giant, aims to elevate Assam as a premier destination for national and international musical concerts and events.
The signing ceremony, held in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, marked what he termed a “new beginning” in Assam’s cultural journey. Speaking on the occasion, CM Sarma expressed his optimism, stating on X that “Ticketing made seamless! Assam is set to be the next big concert and events destination, and the one-stop destination for all tickets will be @bookmyshow!” He envisioned this collaboration as a critical step in reimagining the state as a vibrant hub for global entertainment, extending beyond its renowned natural and heritage tourism.
The Chief Minister further emphasised that this venture would significantly boost Assam’s nascent “concert economy,” unlocking fresh avenues for youth engagement and tourism development. He highlighted the state’s readiness to host international concerts, citing the evolving hospitality sector and burgeoning venue infrastructure in Guwahati. Sarma also pointed out the immense potential of cities beyond the capital, such as Dibrugarh and other locations, to contribute to and benefit from this burgeoning concert culture. This strategic alliance is expected to usher in a new era of entertainment and economic growth for the state, firmly placing Assam on the global map of live events.
