Indy Releases Soul-Stirring Single ‘Disappear’ on World Music Day, Confronting Mental Health Through Music

Guwahati: On the occasion of World Music Day, Guwahati-based singer-songwriter Indrani Das, known by her stage name Indy, unveiled her second original single titled Disappear, offering listeners an unflinching look into mental health struggles, emotional withdrawal, and the complex terrain of self-doubt. The track, released on June 21, marks a defining moment in the independent music circuit of Assam, where conversations on internal battles are still often left unspoken.

Anchored in the sonic palette of alternative rock with undertones of emo influences, Disappear reflects the raw vulnerability of wanting to vanish from an overwhelming world. The lyrics speak directly to the silent chaos many young people endure, adding a poignant voice to the evolving discourse on mental wellness within the region’s creative community. Indrani, who both wrote and composed the track, channels her personal journey into an honest expression of isolation and resilience.

The song was recorded at Lucid Recess Studio, produced by Amitabh Barooa and mixed and mastered by Siddharth Barooa. The collaboration brings together seasoned names from the Northeast’s music production scene, adding technical finesse to Indy’s deeply intimate work. The single builds on the momentum of her 2024 debut Sweet Wonder Years, showing her growing maturity as a solo artist while continuing her performances with bands InJoy and Stage Fright.

Accompanying the release is a music video directed by Priyankcontacta Sohoria and produced by Ekoda Productions, which visually captures the emotional core of the track. Shot and edited by Maaruf Bin Rafique, the video unfolds as a quiet cinematic portrayal of inner conflict, using shadow, space, and silence to convey what words often cannot. In a local scene that often leans toward upbeat or conventional themes, Disappear cuts through with its candid emotional depth.

With this release, Indy not only carves a space for her own voice but also extends an invitation to her audience—to acknowledge, discuss, and empathise with the unseen struggles that shape many lives. As Disappear begins to resonate across platforms, it emerges not just as a song, but as a statement of courage and connection in the face of quiet battles. The video is now available for viewing on YouTube.
