Manipur Youth Shine in Defence Services as Nine Officers Commissioned Across Indian Army, IAF, and Assam Rifles

Imphal: Manipur once again demonstrated its growing stature in India’s defence establishment as nine young officers from the state were recently commissioned into the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Assam Rifles. In a formal felicitation ceremony held on June 25 at the Mantripukhri Garrison, the Assam Rifles under HQ IGAR (South) honoured the newly inducted officers for their achievement and dedication.

The ceremony was presided over by the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South), who lauded the officers for their perseverance and commitment, describing their success as a source of pride for the entire state. He also commended the unwavering support of their families, acknowledging that their sacrifices had played a crucial role in shaping the officers’ journeys.

Among the nine, seven were commissioned into the Indian Army. Four of them—Lieutenants A Naoten Meitei, Naoba Meitei, Ronendro, and G Ambrose Panmei—joined the prestigious Gorkha Rifles and are all proud alumni of Sainik School, Imphal. Lieutenant M Denish Singh from Kakching was commissioned into the Grenadiers, while Lieutenants Meghnath Soibam and Thokchom Siddharth Singh joined the Regiment of Artillery.

Flying Officer Mayanglambam Lucky Singh joined the Indian Air Force after completing his training at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal, Telangana. A special moment during the ceremony came with the recognition of Assistant Commandant Hingba Graceson R, who began his journey with the Assam Rifles as a recruit in 2005 and has now risen through the ranks to become an officer in the same force—a rare and commendable feat.

The Inspector General encouraged the young officers to carry forward the core values of honour, discipline, and service as they step into leadership roles in India’s armed forces. He also highlighted Manipur’s longstanding and growing contribution to the defence services, calling the success of these officers an inspiration for the youth of the region to pursue careers in national service.
