Arunachal’s Youth Embark on Skill Odyssey to Hyderabad
Itanagar: In a significant stride towards empowering its youth and tackling unemployment, forty-five aspiring individuals from Arunachal Pradesh today commenced a transformative three-month skill development programme at the prestigious National Academy of Construction in Hyderabad. The initiative, a beacon of hope for many, aims to equip these young minds with vital construction-related skills, paving the way for a brighter future.
The departure ceremony, held with much enthusiasm, was flagged off by the honourable Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Kento Jini. The contingent comprises a diverse group, including school dropouts and those vulnerable to social exclusion, carefully selected from various districts across the state. This commendable endeavour has been meticulously organised by the Youth Resource Centre (YRC) Itanagar, operating under the aegis of the Department of Youth Affairs, underscoring the government’s commitment to youth upliftment. Director of Youth Affairs, Ramesh Linggi, along with YRC Project Coordinator Pangngam Wangnaw and Assistant Project Coordinator Raso Gyadi, were present to offer their well wishes and support to the departing youths.
The comprehensive programme is designed to impart crucial skills in high-demand trades such as plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry. According to Pangngam Wangnaw, the core objective of this specialised training is to facilitate the seamless integration of these young people into mainstream society, empowering them through vocational education and skill enhancement. Minister Jini, during his address, passionately articulated the substantial economic benefits awaiting these skilled individuals, emphasising that their earning potential in these trades far surpasses that of those in government contingency positions, thereby offering a viable and lucrative career path.
This forward-thinking initiative resonates deeply with Prime Minister Modi’s clarion call for “Vocal for Local,” aiming to cultivate indigenous expertise and foster self-reliance within Arunachal Pradesh. For many of the participants, this journey represents a monumental first. Speaking to India Today NE, a palpable mix of excitement and apprehension was evident among them. Several shared that this would be their maiden experience of train travel and their first venture beyond the familiar confines of their home state. The selection process, notably, prioritised youth hailing from remote districts, acknowledging their unique social and economic challenges and extending this invaluable opportunity where it is needed most.
