Arunachal: MLA Tseten Chombay Conducts On-Ground Review of Key Infrastructure Projects Across West Kameng

Itanagar: In a decisive move to ensure effective grassroots-level development, Tseten Chombay, MLA of the 5-Kalaktang Rupa Assembly Constituency, conducted a thorough inspection of multiple infrastructure projects underway in the Tenzingang Settlement Area, Shergaon, and Jigaon village of West Kameng district. The visit was aimed at evaluating the progress, quality, and timely delivery of works critical to the region’s educational, cultural, and economic upliftment.

In Tenzingang, Chombay inspected the construction of two Traditional Welcome Gates and a 20-bedded students’ hostel at the Gyuto Monastery Cultural Centre, both under the Public Works Department (PWD), along with the mini stage construction at the local ground being undertaken by the Water Resources Department (WRD).

In Shergaon, the team reviewed the veterinary officer’s quarter and renovation of the circuit house managed by the Rural Works Department (RWD), the 2-km road improvement project from OKSRT National Highway to the State Horticulture Farm, and the development of a local printing unit for Buddhist ceremonial items such as the Khada and Dargyang, executed by the PWD.

At Jigaon, the focus was on inspecting the construction of a 20-bedded hostel with kitchen, dining, warden’s room, and residential quarters at NSCBAV under RWD. Other significant projects included the development of infrastructure for the Government Middle School under SACSI 2024–25, and a 2-km approach road to the scenic Bulibaw Tourism Site, managed under the PWD’s Rupa Sub-Division.

Chombay emphasised that these projects serve not only immediate functional needs but are also part of a broader vision for holistic growth. “From enhancing education and boosting tourism to preserving our cultural identity, each project plays a role in shaping a progressive and inclusive future for the people of our constituency,” he said during the site inspections.

The MLA also convened discussions with departmental engineers and executing agencies, urging strict adherence to timelines and workmanship standards to ensure long-term utility and accountability. He underscored the importance of integrating community needs into infrastructure planning and reinforced the administration’s zero-tolerance approach to project delays or quality lapses.

Chombay was joined during the inspection by Zilla Parishad Chairperson Karma Dorjee Thongdok, Rupa ADC Lobsang Tsetan, ZPM Tashi Wangchu, PWD Executive Engineer Bhupen Tadar, Kalaktang Mandal President Sangey Norbu Sermu, and senior representatives from the Power Department, WRD, RWD, PRI members, and community leaders. Their joint presence reflected a unified commitment to people-first governance and transparent execution of developmental initiatives in the region.
