Tripura CM Manik Saha Flags Off 16 Life-Saving Ambulances, Launches Real-Time Tracking for Emergency Response

Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha today distributed 16 new ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, marking a major boost to the state’s emergency healthcare response. The initiative is aimed at addressing the critical “golden hour” after road accidents—when swift medical intervention can save lives.

Each ambulance is outfitted with essential life-saving equipment to stabilize patients en route to hospitals. The deployment is expected to significantly reduce preventable fatalities caused by delayed emergency responses, particularly in remote and high-risk areas.

As part of the event, the Transport Department also launched a Vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System, enabling real-time surveillance of both ambulances and public transport. Officials said the digital platform will facilitate faster emergency deployment and tighter coordination with hospitals.

Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, who also holds the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, and Tourism portfolios, highlighted the government’s commitment to road safety under its “Safe Drive Save Life” campaign. He stressed that the ambulance rollout is just one component of a larger effort to minimize road-related deaths in the state.

Chief Minister Saha described the twin initiatives as foundational steps toward creating a “responsive, safety-focused transport ecosystem” in Tripura. Officials believe the integration of tracking technology and upgraded emergency vehicles will drastically improve outcomes in accident cases and set a new benchmark in the state’s healthcare delivery system.
