Manipur Governor Calls for Sweeping Urban Service Reforms
Imphal: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has issued a clear directive for immediate improvements in the state’s urban services, with a sharp focus on implementing scientific solid waste management and transparent property tax systems. The Governor’s call to action came during a crucial review meeting held on Wednesday at the Raj Bhavan.
During the high-level deliberation, top officials representing Imphal Smart City Limited, the Planning and Development Authority, and the Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) Department presented comprehensive briefings on the ongoing urban development projects across the state. A significant portion of the discussion revolved around the urgent need to roll out a GIS-based property tax system and to devise effective strategies for improved waste disposal in cities.
Governor Bhalla underscored the imperative for enhanced inter-departmental coordination to ensure the timely and efficient execution of these vital initiatives. He also stressed on the importance of launching extensive public awareness campaigns, aiming to foster greater community participation in urban development endeavours. The Governor highlighted that the successful implementation of these reforms is paramount not only for better governance but also for strengthening public trust in municipal services.
