Sikkim: Divyangjan Community Finds Inspiration in ‘Sitare Zameen Par’ Screening in Gangtok

Gangtok: A heartwarming evening unfolded on July 3 at Vajra Cinema Hall in Gangtok as 30 Divyangjan individuals and their families were treated to a special screening of the critically acclaimed film, Sitare Zameen Par. The event, a collaborative effort between the Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC-Sikkim) and Vajra Hall, aimed to offer more than just entertainment, providing a unique opportunity for the audience to see their experiences reflected on the big screen.

The Aamir Khan-starrer, renowned for its sensitive portrayal of a differently-abled child navigating life’s challenges, deeply resonated with the viewers. The cinema hall was filled with a mix of laughter, tears, and profound quiet as the film’s narrative unfolded, striking a familiar chord with many present.

Pushpanjali Gupta, Director of CRC-Sikkim, shared the underlying sentiment behind the initiative. “The main idea behind the screening was for the Divyangjan to relate to the movie and feel inspired,” she stated. “The film left an emotional message for all of us — to keep trying, keep believing in our children, and never give up.”

Parents, guardians, and the dedicated CRC staff who accompanied the attendees described the screening as a vital dose of encouragement and empathy. For many, it transcended a mere cinematic experience, serving as a powerful reminder of the inherent strength and boundless potential residing within every child, irrespective of their abilities. The evening concluded with bright smiles, engaging conversations, and a palpable sense of renewed purpose, reaffirming the transformative power of storytelling.
