Entertainment: Mumbai is abuzz with fresh excitement as whispers turn to concrete hints about the highly anticipated sequel to the 2012 hit, Cocktail. The film, which originally starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, is set to go on floors soon, promising a fresh narrative with a stellar new cast.
Reports are rife that the makers have approached Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna to take on the lead roles, igniting significant interest among cinephiles. The buzz reached a fever pitch on Saturday when Anaita Shroff Adajania, celebrity stylist and wife of Cocktail director Homi Adajania, shared a sneak peek of the Cocktail 2 script on her Instagram story. Her caption, “Let the prep begin,” unequivocally signalled the commencement of pre-production work, sending fans into a frenzy. While official details from the production house remain under wraps, the confirmation from a source close to the director has amplified anticipation.
Meanwhile, the potential lead trio is currently immersed in their respective projects. Kriti Sanon recently wrapped up shooting for ‘Tere Ishk Mein’, an Anand L Rai directorial, where she stars opposite Dhanush. Described as a spiritual successor to the critically acclaimed ‘Raanjhanaa’, this film is slated for a theatrical release on November 28, 2025. The wrap-up was confirmed by the production house via an intriguing Instagram post featuring two bloodied hands clasped together. ‘Tere Ishk Mein’ is penned by Himanshu Sharma, with music by the legendary AR Rahman and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. It is being produced under the banners of Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Colour Yellow Productions, with Aanand L Rai, Himanshu Sharma, Bhushan Kumar, and Krishan Kumar at the helm.
Rashmika Mandanna, another reported lead for Cocktail 2, has a packed calendar with multiple films slated for release this year. Her latest cinematic outing was Kuberaa, where she shared the screen with Dhanush and Nagarjuna. Adding to her diverse filmography, she recently announced an action thriller titled Mysaa. Fans can also look forward to seeing her alongside Ranbir Kapoor in the highly anticipated Animal Park.
Shahid Kapoor, the third actor reportedly approached for the sequel, was last seen in the film Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews. His potential involvement in Cocktail 2 further solidifies the film’s star power and promises an exciting fresh pairing for the audience.
