CM Sarma Throws Weight Behind Karbi Anglong CEM Tuliram Ronghang Amidst Praise and Accusations
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has come out in strong defence of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang, unequivocally backing his leadership while condemning what he termed as attempts to tarnish his image. The Chief Minister’s ringing endorsement arrived in a public statement, where he lauded Ronghang’s journey and contributions to the region’s progress.
Speaking glowingly of the CEM, CM Sarma highlighted Ronghang’s humble origins, stating, “Today, Diphu stands as one of the most developed headquarters in Assam — a testament to his unwavering dedication to the Karbi people.” He credited Ronghang’s tenure with bringing about “unprecedented development, along with lasting peace and stability” to the Karbi Anglong region. Sarma emphatically described Ronghang as a “respected leader who rose from a humble Karbi village to become the CEM of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.”
The Chief Minister did not mince words when addressing what he perceived as efforts to defame Ronghang. He directly pointed fingers at individuals allegedly linked to “hostile foreign forces,” specifically mentioning Pakistan, as being behind such smear campaigns. “Attempts to discredit a leader of his stature, especially by those acting at the behest of hostile forces like Pakistan, will not dampen the spirit of progress,” Sarma asserted, signalling a firm stance against such alleged interference. He also reiterated his complete faith in the people of Karbi Anglong, emphasising their unity and commitment to safeguarding the peace achieved and continuing on the path of development.
