Assam CM Ramps Up Welfare Drive in BTR, Eyes Massive Boost for Local Schemes
Kokrajhar: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today convened a high-level review meeting at the Kokrajhar DC Office, meticulously assessing the progress of various state-sponsored welfare schemes across five key Assembly constituencies – Kokrajhar, Baukhungri, Dotma, Gossaigaon, and Parbatjhora. The session saw the active participation of the District Commissioner and other senior officials from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
During the comprehensive review, Chief Minister Sarma keenly examined the groundwork laid for the successful rollout of several flagship initiatives, including Orunodoi 3.0, Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan, Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan (CMAAA), and Eti Koli Duti Paat. A significant highlight was the expansion of the Orunodoi scheme in Kokrajhar district, set to increase its beneficiary count from the current 60,000 to a robust 1.40 lakh under Orunodoi 3.0. The Chief Minister urged district functionaries to expedite the selection process for these beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Sarma also delved into the implementation of CMAAA, scrutinising the number of applications received, the selections made by the Monitoring Committee, and crucially, the bank linkages for the approved applicants. Further, the Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan came under review, with the Chief Minister underscoring its aim to empower 1.5 lakh women in the district. The ‘Eti Koli Duti Paat’ scheme, designed to benefit approximately seven thousand employees, also received his attention.
In a significant announcement, Chief Minister Sarma directed officials to facilitate the distribution of new ration cards to 60,000 additional beneficiaries across the five constituencies. He set a clear deadline of August 15, 2025, for the completion of all associated administrative processes, underscoring the government’s commitment to swiftly extend welfare benefits to a larger populace in the region.
