Assam: Barpeta Fortifies Electoral Preparedness with Extensive BLO Training
Guwahati: Barpeta district has successfully concluded a comprehensive district-level training programme for its Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and BLO Supervisors, a crucial exercise undertaken under the vigilant supervision of the Election Commission of India. This initiative is set to significantly bolster the district’s electoral machinery ahead of upcoming processes.
A remarkable total of 1094 BLOs and 103 BLO Supervisors from all Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) across Barpeta participated in these intensive sessions. The core objective of the training was to thoroughly equip these frontline election functionaries with the vital knowledge and hands-on understanding required for meticulous electoral roll maintenance and adherence to the latest procedural guidelines. ADC (Election) Moushumi Chetia, ACS, underscored the significance of this training, stating it represents a pivotal stride towards ensuring electoral rolls that are both error-free and truly inclusive.
The training schedule commenced on July 15, with sessions dedicated to the 22-Mandia and 23-Chenga LACs. These sessions saw the active participation of the respective EROs cum ADCs, AEROs cum Circle Officers and BDOs of Mandia and Chenga, alongside the ADC (Election), the Election Officer, State Level Master Trainer (SLMT), and Assistant Level Master Trainers (ALMTs), all contributing to the effective dissemination of information.
Continuing the momentum, July 16 witnessed similar training programmes for the 24-Barpeta (SC) and 25-Pakabetbari LACs. These sessions were expertly guided by the respective EROs cum ADCs, AEROs cum Circle Officers of Barpeta and Sarthebari, and BDOs of Sarukhetri and Ghilazari-Rupsi. They were ably supported by the ADC (Election), the Election Officer, SLMT, and ALMTs, ensuring a consistent and high-quality training experience across the board.
A consistent theme across all sessions was the emphatic emphasis on the critical importance of maintaining electoral rolls that are not just updated but also entirely free from errors. Furthermore, strict compliance with Election Commission of India norms and the enhancement of field-level coordination were highlighted as paramount for facilitating a smooth, transparent, and ultimately successful electoral process within the district.
