Arunachal Pradesh Forges Ahead with Administrative Reforms, Panel Selection Underway

Itanagar: In a significant move towards ushering in a new era of governance, the Arunachal Pradesh government has officially commenced the process of identifying distinguished individuals to form the proposed Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC). This ambitious initiative, set to redefine public administration in the frontier state, took a decisive step forward with the first meeting of the selection committee held here on Thursday.

Chaired by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the high-level gathering saw the presence of State Law and Justice Minister Kento Jini and Mebo MLA Oken Tayeng, whose insights were reportedly well-received. Chief Minister Khandu, in his remarks, underscored the paramount importance of thoughtful leadership and inclusive dialogue in the crafting of robust institutional frameworks. He reiterated that this is a “crucial step in our journey towards administrative efficiency and meaningful reforms,” setting a clear trajectory for the state’s future.

The proposed ARC, once formally constituted, will be entrusted with a wide-ranging mandate. Its core responsibilities include a comprehensive review of the existing administrative architecture, the formulation of recommendations to significantly enhance public service delivery, and the streamlining of governance mechanisms across all departments. The groundwork for this commission has been steadily progressing since the state government issued a notification regarding its formation in November last year. Officials indicate that meticulous efforts have been underway to ensure the selection of highly competent and experienced members, crucial for effectively guiding the commission’s transformative work.

The panel’s scope of examination will encompass a thorough analysis of Arunachal Pradesh’s unique governance landscape, culminating in reform proposals meticulously designed to align with the contemporary socio-economic needs of the state. These forward-looking reforms are expected to make a substantial contribution to the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, an ambitious plan envisioning a developed and efficient India by the centenary of its independence.
