Assam Rifles Seizes Major Arms Cache in Arunachal’s Changlang

Changlang, Arunachal Pradesh: In a significant breakthrough, security forces in Arunachal Pradesh’s Changlang district have unearthed a substantial cache of arms and ammunition during a meticulously planned search operation today, July 18. A defence official confirmed the seizure, underscoring the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.

Acting on precise intelligence, a dedicated unit of the Assam Rifles, operating under the vigilant Spear Corps, launched a targeted operation along the critical Miao-Vijoynagar axis. This concerted effort resulted in the successful seizure of six various arms along with a significant quantity of ammunition. The operation was characterized by the deployment of specialized teams, state-of-the-art niche technology equipment, and highly trained tracker dogs, ensuring a comprehensive and effective sweep of the area.

Further investigations are actively underway to ascertain the origin of these seized weapons and, crucially, to uncover their intended nefarious use. Authorities are working tirelessly to trace the networks involved in the illicit arms trade in the region. This incident follows closely on the heels of another successful operation earlier this month, where Arunachal Pradesh Police apprehended a suspected drug peddler and seized a considerable quantity of contraband under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. That operation, too, was the result of credible intelligence, leading to a swift and targeted action by a police team from Papu Hills Police Station, spearheaded by Inspector Torun Mai (OC) and supported by SI Gyati Lento, ASI Kipa Takia, and Constable P. Saikia, all under the direct supervision of Shri Rishi Longdo, SDPO Naharlagun.
