Arunachal’s Infrastructure Push: Mama Natung Drives Development in East Kameng
Itanagar: Seizing the momentum of progress, Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung embarked on a comprehensive inspection tour of East Kameng district on July 18, signalling a robust commitment to enhancing the region’s educational and infrastructural landscape. His visit underscored the state government’s unwavering focus on accelerating socio-economic development across the frontier state.
The day’s itinerary commenced with a crucial assessment of the ongoing construction of the Agriculture College at Watte, a project poised to significantly bolster the academic offerings in the state. Minister Natung was accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including Zilla Parishad Members (ZPMs), the Secretary of Agriculture, the Joint Secretary of PWD, the Director (M&E) from Finance, Planning & Investment, Chief Engineers from PWD and PHE & WS, the Deputy Commissioner, various Heads of Departments (HoDs), and influential public leaders. A highlight of this leg of the visit was the inauguration of the WRSB, a crucial bridge spanning the Kameng River, set to improve connectivity and access for local communities.
Further solidifying the commitment to robust infrastructure, Minister Natung laid the foundation stone for an ambitious RCC bridge project, also over the Kameng River, a vital link for the region. Complementing this, a new water supply project dedicated to the Agriculture College was inaugurated, ensuring essential amenities for the budding educational institution. These synergistic initiatives are designed to fortify the educational infrastructure, thereby stimulating socio-economic advancement not just in East Kameng but across Arunachal Pradesh.
The Minister’s insightful tour also extended to the newly completed Industrial Training Institute (ITI) building and the ongoing Integrated Drinking Water Project, a critical undertaking for Bana headquarters and its six neighbouring villages. Here, he was joined by Zilla Parishad Member Bichom, the Director of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, alongside district officials and other key stakeholders, underscoring the collaborative spirit driving these developmental projects.
The ITI at Bana is poised to be a game-changer, envisioned to provide invaluable vocational training and, in turn, generate much-needed job opportunities for the youth of East Kameng and beyond, addressing the critical need for skilled manpower. Arunachal Pradesh currently boasts five operational government ITIs, namely ITI Roing, ITI Tabarijo, ITI Dirang, ITI Yupia (Women), and ITI Balinong (Miao). The state’s journey in technical education began with the establishment of the first government ITI in Roing during 1971-72, a testament to its long-standing vision for fostering a skilled workforce.
