Arunachal Highway Crippled as Landslide Halts Traffic in Keyi Panyor
Keyi Panyor, July 18: Vehicular movement on the critical Trans Arunachal Highway (TAH) between Hoj and Potin experienced a significant snag today after a massive landslide, brought on by relentless overnight downpours, completely choked the road. The incident, occurring around 2:30 AM near the district’s Welcome Gate, saw a deluge of boulders and mud cascade onto the highway, rendering it impassable.
Hundreds of travellers, encompassing local residents, daily commuters, and those journeying from afar, found themselves marooned for several arduous hours. The vital artery remained shut for the better part of the morning, with a long queue of commercial and private vehicles stretching along the route. Stranded passengers voiced their frustration over the considerable delays and inconvenience caused by the prolonged standstill.
The district administration acted with alacrity, deploying both personnel and heavy machinery to tackle the colossal debris. Following several hours of painstaking effort, the obstruction was finally cleared, and traffic flow recommenced by late morning. Officials have cautioned motorists to exercise extreme prudence while navigating the hilly terrain, particularly during the ongoing monsoon season, and reiterated their commitment to continuous monitoring and maintenance for public safety.
