Assam: Guwahati Leaders Bag Key BJP Morcha Posts in State Shuffle

Guwahati: In a significant move aimed at bolstering its organisational structure and strengthening its presence across the state, the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today announced a comprehensive reshuffle of its State Morcha Presidents.

The appointments, made by State President Dilip Saikia with the concurrence of National President JP Nadda, saw two prominent leaders from Guwahati secure pivotal roles, signaling a growing emphasis on urban leadership within the party.

Nabarun Medhi, a familiar face from Guwahati, has been entrusted with the leadership of the Scheduled Caste (SC) Morcha, a crucial wing for outreach and engagement with the community. Joining him from the capital city is Pankaj Borbora, who will now spearhead the Kisan Morcha, a vital body connecting with the state’s agricultural base. This dual appointment from Guwahati underscores the party’s strategic focus on consolidating its position and enhancing grassroots connect within the state capital.

The extensive list of new appointments also includes Nilima Devi from Darrang taking charge of the Mahila Morcha, Rakesh Das from Kamrup Rural leading the Yuva Morcha, and Subhash Dutta from Dibrugarh heading the OBC Morcha. Further diversifying the leadership, Horen Sing Bey from Karbi Anglong has been appointed to lead the ST Morcha, while Santiuse Kujur from Udalguri (BTR) will be at the helm of the Minority Morcha. Dulen Nayak from Jorhat has been given the responsibility of the Tea Community Morcha.

The official notification, dispatched from the BJP headquarters, was also circulated to key national figures, including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B.L. Santosh, highlighting the significance of these appointments in the party’s broader strategy.
