Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Alert Issued for Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar: The Meteorological Centre in Itanagar has issued an Orange Alert for Papumpare and Anjaw districts, warning residents of impending thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and heavy rainfall at isolated places. This alert signifies a “Be Prepared” situation, indicating that severe weather is likely and could potentially disrupt daily life, necessitating immediate precautionary measures from the public.

Meanwhile, a Yellow Alert has also been sounded for 16 other districts across Arunachal Pradesh. These regions are expected to experience moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity. While less severe than an Orange Alert, the Yellow Alert still advises citizens to remain vigilant and keep themselves updated on the evolving weather conditions.

Authorities have strongly urged residents in all affected districts to stay indoors during lightning episodes and to steer clear of areas prone to flooding. Securing any outdoor items that could be displaced by strong winds or rain has also been advised. Emergency response teams have been mobilised and placed on standby in the districts under alert, ready to provide assistance if needed. The public is requested to rely on official channels for weather updates and to avoid any non-essential travel until the weather significantly improves.
