BEL Briefs Sikkim Governor on Defence Innovations and Operation Sindoor Support
Gangtok, Sikkim – A high-level delegation from Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a pivotal defence public sector undertaking operating under the Ministry of Defence, convened with the Governor of Sikkim at Raj Bhavan on Monday. The esteemed team apprised the Governor of BEL’s cutting-edge advancements in defence technology and highlighted its crucial contributions during Operation Sindoor.
The delegation, spearheaded by BEL Chairman and Managing Director, Manoj Jain, comprised a distinguished group including executive directors, independent directors, and other senior officials. Notably, Bharat Singh Parmar, a former Rajya Sabha member and currently an Independent Director of BEL, was also part of this significant visit.
During the comprehensive interaction, BEL elaborated on its recent accomplishments in bolstering India’s defence prowess, underscoring its unwavering commitment to indigenous technologies and strategic initiatives aimed at achieving self-reliance. A particular emphasis was placed on BEL’s operational involvement during Operation Sindoor, where the company’s swift response and technical assistance proved instrumental to the mission’s success.
The Governor, in turn, lauded BEL’s commendable contributions to national defence and applauded its determined pursuit of technological autonomy. He also took the opportunity to spotlight Sikkim’s exemplary leadership in sustainable development, with specific mention of its initiatives in environmental preservation, women’s empowerment, and the promotion of disciplined civic conduct among its populace.
The engaging discussion also delved into military history, as the Governor vividly recounted Major General Sagat Singh’s inspiring leadership at Nathu La during the 1967 conflict with China. He characterised Singh’s actions as a defining moment of courage and strategic acumen, an event that continues to serve as a profound source of inspiration for India’s armed forces.
