Baggage Blues: Urvashi Rautela’s Rs 70 Lakh Jewellery Stolen at London Gatwick
Entertainment: Mumbai’s very own B-Town star, Urvashi Rautela, finds herself embroiled in an unfortunate incident of theft, with her luxury bag containing precious jewellery worth a staggering Rs 70 lakhs having been pilfered from London’s Gatwick Airport. The incident unfolded as the actress, a fervent tennis aficionado, was in the British capital to witness the iconic Wimbledon championships. Her expensive Christian Dior bag, she claims, vanished into thin air from the baggage belt after her Emirates flight from Mumbai.
Speaking out about the harrowing experience, a statement from her team highlighted the gravity of the situation. “As a Platinum Emirates Member and a global artist attending Wimbledon, I am deeply disheartened to report that our Christian Dior brown baggage was stolen from the baggage belt at London Gatwick Airport, following our Emirates flight from Mumbai,” the statement read, painting a grim picture of the ordeal. Despite possessing her baggage tag and ticket, the bag’s disappearance directly from the belt area has been termed an “alarming breach of airport security.”
The actress and her team have not taken this matter lightly, asserting that the issue transcends a mere lost bag. “This matter is not only about a lost bag—it’s about accountability, safety, and dignity for all travellers,” they emphasised, underscoring the broader implications of the incident for air passengers everywhere. The frustration is palpable, with Urvashi taking to her Instagram to air her grievances, tagging Gatwick Airport, Emirates, and the Metropolitan Police. “Injustice tolerated is injustice repeated,” she wrote, a poignant message alongside her post detailing the theft during Wimbledon.
A further source of distress for Urvashi has been the perceived lack of assistance from the authorities. She claims that her pleas for help from both Emirates support and Gatwick Airport officials have been met with deafening silence, leaving her feeling abandoned and unheard. The actress had earlier been seen soaking in the Wimbledon atmosphere, sharing glamorous pictures from her visit on social media. One of her posts, where she expressed her joy at meeting the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, garnered significant attention. Known for her roles in films like ‘Singh Saab: The Great’ and ‘Hate Story 4,’ Urvashi Rautela’s current brush with bad luck has certainly put a damper on her European sojourn.
