New Delhi to Silchar gets a new morning flight, thanks to Chief Minister’s initiative.

Guwahati: In a significant development for Assam’s Barak Valley, IndiGo Airlines is all set to launch a new morning flight service from New Delhi to Silchar with a stopover in Guwahati. The new service, which is a direct outcome of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s persistent efforts, will start from September 20, 2025.

This was confirmed by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and announced by Barak Valley Development Minister Kaushik Rai, bringing much-needed relief and improved connectivity to the region. The move is a boon for travellers, who have long faced challenges with road and rail links, which are often disrupted due to various issues.

Taking to his official X handle, Minister Rai expressed his heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sarma for considering the needs of the people and arranging this additional flight. He also extended his gratitude to IndiGo Airlines for introducing the service.

This new flight is a testament to the Assam government’s commitment to enhancing the state’s connectivity and fostering growth, ensuring that the people of Barak Valley have easier access to the national capital and beyond.
