Tripura Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen Flown to Bengaluru for Advanced Medical Care
Agartala: Tripura Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, who suffered a severe cerebral stroke on August 8, has been shifted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for advanced medical treatment. The 72-year-old Speaker underwent emergency brain surgery at a private facility in Agartala following the stroke.
According to a bulletin from ILS Hospital, where he was initially treated, two doctors from AIIMS, New Delhi, arrived on Sunday to provide an expert opinion. The specialists reviewed his case and confirmed that the initial treatment and the timely brain decompression surgery were appropriate.
Dr. Arijit Sen, the Speaker’s son, confirmed that his father’s condition is stable with all vital organs functioning normally. “We shifted him to a Bangalore-based hospital for further treatment,” he told reporters. Dr. Sen also extended his gratitude to Chief Minister Manik Saha for his support in managing the initial treatment.
The Speaker suffered the brain haemorrhage at the Agartala railway station. Indirectly addressing criticism from the opposition CPI(M) regarding the choice of a private hospital over the state-run GBP Hospital, Dr. Sen stated that the family made the decision. “He is our father, and we will decide where he will be treated. Nobody could dictate that to us. It is not good to play politics over an ailing person,” he asserted.
