President’s Medal Honours Assam’s Top Cop for Stellar Service

GUWAHATI – In a proud moment for the Assam Police force, Commissioner of Police Partha Sarathi Mahanta has been bestowed with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, a high honour that acknowledges his outstanding leadership and extensive contributions to law enforcement in the state. The announcement, coinciding with the eve of Independence Day celebrations, highlights a successful year for Assam Police with a total of 17 national medals being conferred upon its personnel for their bravery, professional excellence, and unwavering dedication.

Among the decorated officers, three have been recognised with the Medal for Gallantry, while a significant thirteen have earned the Medal for Meritorious Service. This impressive list includes a mix of senior officers and personnel who have consistently shown commitment to their duties. The awardees for the Meritorious Service Medal are Inspector General Sanjukta Parasar and Vivek Raj Singh, Commandant Jayshree Khersa, Superintendent of Police Hridayjit Barman and Numal Mahatta, Commandant Debasish Borah and Tabu Ram Pegu, Deputy Superintendent of Police Nirmal Chandra Biswas, Inspectors Lalit Saikia and Dhruba Sarki, Sub-Inspectors Akhil Kumar Das and Rabindra Singha, and Assistant Commandant Nabin Chandra Sharma. The awards are a testament to the exemplary service and professional calibre displayed across all ranks of the Assam Police.
