Nagaland Governor La Ganesan Passes Away; State Declares Seven-Day Mourning
Kohima: Nagaland Governor La Ganesan passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Apollo Hospital in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, bringing an end to a long and dedicated career in politics and governance.
The Government of Nagaland has declared a seven-day State mourning from August 16 to 22, during which the National Flag will be flown at half-mast across all government establishments where it is customarily hoisted.
An official notification issued by Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, IAS, stated that all forms of official entertainment and celebrations will remain suspended throughout the mourning period.
Governor Ganesan’s passing has created a profound void in Nagaland’s political and administrative spheres, with leaders and citizens across the region paying tribute to his service and legacy.
