Saha Directs DMs to Fast-Track Development, Honours Maharaja Bir Bikram’s Legacy
Agartala: In a move underscoring the government’s resolve to accelerate development and welfare initiatives, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presided over a high-level review meeting with all District Magistrates on August 21.
The Chief Minister, according to a press statement, meticulously evaluated the progress of various ongoing schemes and projects, instructing officials to ensure their timely and efficient execution.
With a strong emphasis on people-centric governance, CM Saha urged the district administrations to proactively implement more welfare-oriented activities that directly impact the lives of common citizens, aiming to streamline development from the top down to the grassroots level.
This focus on swift and effective governance comes shortly after CM Saha paid homage to Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur on his 117th birth anniversary earlier in the week. Speaking to ANI, the Chief Minister hailed the Maharaja as the “architect of modern Tripura,” crediting his progressive vision and contributions to education, infrastructure, and culture for shaping the state’s current trajectory.
Saha highlighted the Maharaja’s pioneering spirit, citing the establishment of the Agartala airport in 1942. He criticised the previous Left Front government for its alleged failure to give the Maharaja his due recognition, asserting that it was the BJP government, after coming to power in 2018, that rightfully renamed the airport in his honour, finally acknowledging the last Maharaja of the Manikya Empire for his immense legacy.
