Delhi Braces for ‘Comedy Overload’ as Sunil Grover Returns with Double Show
After a two-year hiatus, popular comedian and television star Sunil Grover is all set to tickle Delhi’s funny bone, with two shows scheduled for a single day at the Talkatora Stadium on September 6. Famous for his iconic characters Gutthi, Rinku Bhabhi, and Dr. Mashoor Gulati from ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’, Grover’s return to the capital’s comedy circuit is generating significant buzz. The show, aptly titled ‘Comedy Overload’, will see the comedian perform at 2 pm and 7 pm, with each session lasting for approximately one hour and 40 minutes.
Grover is expected to bring back his beloved characters while also introducing new material based on relatable, everyday situations that resonate with families across the country. Speaking about his return, Grover said that live performance is a special experience and comedy feels most alive when shared with an audience. He expressed particular excitement about performing in Delhi again, describing his past experiences with the city’s crowds as “truly overwhelming.”
With a career spanning over two decades in India and internationally, Grover’s comedy style—a blend of observational humour and character portrayals—has garnered a massive following from metros to smaller towns, including audiences from the northeast who connect with his family-oriented humour.
The choice of Talkatora Stadium, which can accommodate thousands, highlights the growing popularity of live comedy in the region. Organisers are billing it as one of the biggest comedy events of the year in Delhi. The event is expected to attract a wide audience from the NCR and neighbouring states, including those travelling from the northeast. Tickets for the show are available on BookMyShow, starting at Rs 999, with organisers advising early booking due to strong advance sales. Industry observers see these shows as a significant milestone for live comedy in Delhi’s entertainment calendar, reflecting a surge in demand for stand-up and character-based performances across northern and eastern India.
